The following pictures are of a 1.5” thick piece of green slate which has been cut via Miller’s waterjet and then palletized. This slate is for a project involving an $18 million renovation on the site of Benjamin Franklin’s Philadelphia home which was built in the late 1700’s. The site of the preservation is known as Franklin Court. These slate stones will mark the location of the homes “ICE PIT”, or pre-electricity refrigerator, which was used for ice storage at that time. The slate will rest in the same location as the original. The foot print of the original is 10 foot in diameter (the original was also 10 foot deep). Miller Mechanical is honored to be part of this project. For more information regarding this historical site and renovation please refer to the following web sites.
