Every three years Miller Mechanical must be re-certified for our “U” stamp and “R” stamp.
Congratulations to Frank and Tim, for with their assistance we were again able to get re-certified to repair and fabricate pressure vessels. We have passed our triennial review and have been approved for our ASME “U” stamp for fabrication of vessels in the shop and in the field.
The benefits of fabricating to ASME “U” stamp are
1) higher quality standards
2) competent authority involved in all stages for approval
3) uniformity of code requirements irrespective of geography
We have also passed our National Board Certification for our “R” stamp which enables us to repair, alter or re-rate vessels in the shop and in the field.
Registering a pressure-retaining item with the National Board requires certain uniform quality standards be achieved certifying the manufacturing, testing, and inspection process. This certification acknowledges to owners, users, and public safety jurisdictional authorities registered items have been inspected by National Board-commissioned inspectors and built to required standards. The purpose of National Board registration is to promote safety and document specific equipment design and construction details for future use. It takes place when the manufacturer submits data reports to the National Board for items stamped with National Board numbers.
A data report is similar to a birth certificate. Among the information included are: date of manufacture, materials of construction, specific details regarding design, and certification statements by both the manufacturer and inspector.
A big thank-you goes to Frank and Tim.
